I am so sorry I’ve been MIA for so long now! It’s been two weeks since my last post and the reason is because I worked overtime both weeks and if you are a nurse and work night shifts you should know how draining it is to reenergize. But still no excuses! I just wanted to write an update post and tell you what I’ve been up to.
So besides working so much, the last few days I’ve been off and I’ve been really trying to settle in, get organized, and get new furniture for my new place! Here’s some pictures of what I have so far:
So most of my furniture is from IKEA, but that’s okay cause I do like IKEA furniture. I know some can be low quality, but I’m happy with my picks and that I’m saving a lot of money. I need the savings for traveling! I went to West Elm the other day and I loved so many of their pieces, but their prices definitely kept me away. Although I did get some cute succulents from there. I feel so hip now with my succulent collection. 😉 Speaking of plants, I used to be into decorating with fake flowers/plants, but something about REAL flowers/plants brings so much more life into your place! And I love the spiritual aspect of having plants and taking care of them, nurturing them, allowing them to grow, etc. I know, I’m such a hippie, but that’s okay with me. I find a lot of satisfaction getting up in the morning to water them now.
This is the other day when I finally went biking in my new neighborhood. Beautiful isn’t it? I feel so lucky to be able to live in such an amazing neighborhood with so many beautiful trees! I have such an obsession with trees now. Here’s the quote that kind of sparked that obsession:
“For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfil themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree. When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun, one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured. And every young farmboy knows that the hardest and noblest wood has the narrowest rings, that high on the mountains and in continuing danger the most indestructible, the strongest, the ideal trees grow.
Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.” – Herman Hesse
Amazing, isn’t it?
Besides my apartment, I’ve also been listening to some awesome music. Here’s my current repeat:
I actually found out this one from Ingrid Nilsen who is a YouTube star. I stopped watching a lot of the beauty and makeup videos I used to be addicted to before, but I still watch a few select people who I think are genuine and have awesome style. Missglamorazzi being one of them! She recently came out on one of her YouTube videos and that definitely made me appreciate her even more. I think she has more than 3 million followers and to think about how much impact she can have on people is amazing! I definitely can support anyone who can be brave and be their own person. Kudos to you, Ingrid! Keep shining and bringing positivity to this world. 🙂
And finally here are two videos that Google + suggested to me today:
Hope these two videos inspire you to do something positive today! Do something you fear or spread the word on sex trafficking or learn more about it or do something for a bigger cause. Make every day count!
I know this post is a little random, but that’s me and I hope you enjoyed. As always, thank you for taking the time to read! Till next time.. 🙂
